Privacy Policy

The short version

NitroHUD reads your location to work out how fast you are going. That location never leaves your phone. There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no third-party tracker in this app. Your trips are stored on the device and are deleted when you delete them or uninstall the app.

Location

A speedometer cannot work without location, so this is the one sensitive permission NitroHUD asks for.

  • The app requests precise location while the app is open (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION).
  • It does not request background location and runs no foreground service. When you leave the app, the position stream stops.
  • Positions are used in memory to compute speed, distance, heading, altitude and road grade, and — if you started a trip — to build that trip's record.
  • Positions are never uploaded. We operate no server that could receive them.

If you refuse the permission, the rest of the app still opens; the speed readout simply has nothing to read.

What is stored on your device

  • Settings: units, gauge theme, layout, speed alerts, sound and haptics.
  • Trips you recorded: distance, duration, average and top speed, a speed sample every two seconds, and a track point roughly every three seconds while moving.
  • Acceleration-run records and the total / A / B odometer values.

All of it lives in the app's local storage on your phone. Deleting a trip removes it. Uninstalling the app removes everything.

The app does not create a device id, an installation id, or any other identifier, and does not use an advertising id.

Export

CSV and GPX export writes a file that you then choose to share or save through Android's own share sheet. The app does not upload the file anywhere — where it goes after you pick a destination is up to you and that destination's own privacy policy.

The only two network connections NitroHUD makes

  1. Google Play Billing. If you start a trial or subscribe, Google processes the purchase. We never see your card, address or Google account details — only the subscription state Google reports to the app.
  2. A configuration file fetched from https://hq.bnj.app/api/v1/sync/nitrohud. It carries only the app version, the interface language and the platform (android). It carries no identifier, no location and no personal data. If the request fails, the app uses its built-in defaults and keeps working — every measurement feature is fully offline.

Sensors

The G-force meter reads the device accelerometer. Those readings are used on screen only; they are not recorded to a file and not transmitted. Android does not require a permission for this sensor.

What we do not do

  • We do not upload, store or look at your location, your routes or your trips.
  • We do not collect names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers or contacts.
  • We do not use an advertising id. The app does not request the AD_ID permission.
  • We do not show ads.
  • We do not sell or share data with anyone, because we do not have any to sell.

Your rights

Because no personal data reaches us, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on your behalf. If you are in the EU/UK and want to exercise a right under the GDPR, write to us and we will explain what we hold — which is nothing. You remain in control of what is on your device: see the data deletion page.

Accuracy

Speed and distance come from your device's GNSS (GPS) receiver. Accuracy depends on satellite reception and is displayed in the app alongside the reading. NitroHUD is not a certified speedometer and is not a substitute for your vehicle's own instruments.

Children

NitroHUD is a driving utility intended for users aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever starts collecting anything, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described here.
